Manomet Center makes headquarters more accesible

On June 8, Manomet Inc. cut the ribbon on improvements to its main office and banding lab in that will make them more accessible to those with mobility needs. The changes, which cost  $250,000,included an ADA accessible bathroom, an automatic front door, and new indoor and outdoor classrooms.

Six named to Curry College Dean’s List

Meagan Beck, Christina Colarusso, Jacqueline Donnelly, Desiree Galligan, Tara Masterson, Meghan Dillon and Amanda Paul were named to the Curry College Dean’s List for the Spring 2017 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.30 GPA, have no incompletes, and have no grade lower than a “C” for the semester. Megan Bennie named to Dean’s List at Coastal Carolina

Megan Bennie was named to the Spring Semester 2017 Dean’s List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University. To qualify for the Dean’s List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. Eight named to UMass Dartmouth Dean’s List

Comedy Night at the John Alden Club to benefit playground fund

Come join the preschool for a fun Comedy Night at the John Alden Club in Manomet on June 16 to benefit the Preschool Playground Fund.

Family day at the Manomet Center

Come visit Manomet’s Bird Banding Lab this June 3 for its biannual Family Day, when the doors will open to visitors  to witness live demonstrations of the bird research happening here. For over 50 years, the Landbird Conservation staff at Manomet has collected meticulous data every spring and fall, observing migration patterns of songbirds by catching, banding, and releasing them. The banding team operates the lab Monday through Friday from dawn until dusk, averaging around 2,000 birds caught each season, taking detailed notes and observations on each and every one. Flagpole dedication will mark Memorial Day at the Pinehills

A new flagpole, honoring veterans, will be dedicated at the Stonebridge Club in the Pinehills on Memorial Day, May 29, at 9:30 a.m.

Pinehills woman recognized for service to Talking Information Center

Pat Cotta of Plymouth was recognized for her five years of service to the Talking Information Center  at their Annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast and awards ceremony held last month at the Village at Proprietors Green Assisted Living Facility in Marshfield. TIC operates with the help of more than 500 volunteers statewide, broadcasting newspapers, magazines, books, special consumer information, medical and stock market updates, jobs, sports, supermarket specials, voting guides, community newspapers, and television programs. Emma Machado presents research at Assumption College symposium

Emma Machado of Plymouth was one of 90 students selected to present an original academic research project at Assumption College’s 23rd Annual Undergraduate Symposium, held April 24-25 on the College’s Worcester Campus. The undergraduate symposium serves to highlight the research and scholarly achievements of Assumption students working in collaboration with dedicated faculty mentors. The symposium provides the campus community with the opportunity to gain a greater appreciation of and applaud the individual and collective accomplishments of the College’s faculty and students. Hit the road with the Moose Lodge for the Bethune Bike Run on May 20

The Plymouth Moose Lodge hosts the annual Joe Bethune Motorcycle Run, Saturday, May 20, 2017. The ride is in memory of Petty Officer Joseph E. Bethune of Plymouth,  who died in 2008 in a motorcycle accident. Bethune was actively involved in the Moose Lodge. (more…) Continue Reading →
