MANOMET BRANCH LIBRARY: Adventures on the high seas

If you haven’t yet signed up to participate in “Reading on the High Seas,” get to the Manomet Branch Library as soon as possible to register.  All ages can participate Simply keep track of your reading with our summer materials and be entered to win fun prizes with the raffle tickets you earn. Our grand prize for each age category this year is a Kindle Fire. Register any time before August 16 and get all your raffle tickets in by the end of that day to be entered into the drawings. Manomet Branch Monthly: Danger on the high seas

Summer is nearly here and we have lots of great programs lined up! In June, we kick off our summer program for all ages, Reading on the High Seas as well as a One Book, One Community program featuring Herman Melville’s “Moby-Dick.”  If you’d like to get a copy, log on to the Plymouth Public Library’s website and click on the link All you need to do is fill out the form and send.  The first 100 patrons to sign up to participate in our One Book, One Community program will receive a free copy.  They are going fast. Vintage Reads, our classics book discussion group, is reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee and meeting on Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m. Copies of the book are still available at the branch.  Light refreshments will be served and no registration is necessary. Discuss Turkish history

The Manomet History Book Group will finish a series of discussions on Turkish history on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 4 p.m. with “Lawrence in Arabia: War, Deceit, Imperial Folly and the Making of the Modern Middle East”  by Scott Anderson.  We have one copy left before our meeting. So many wonderful things are happening at the Manomet Branch Library in December.  We have a Holiday Cookie Swap on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.  Bring in your favorite cookie recipe or try a new one! Bakers are asked to bring four to five dozen cookies and a copy of the recipe to share.  Coffee and tea will be served.  There is no need to register for this event; just bring the cookies and join us for some holiday fun.
