Efforts are on to bring back Indians trapped in Afghanistan after the Taliban came to power. During this, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has left during his foreign tour and he will return to India today. According to sources, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar was scheduled to visit Mexico, Panama and Latin American country Guyana after New York.

According to sources, after attending all the programs related to India’s presidency in the UN Security Council, the External Affairs Minister was scheduled to visit three Latin American countries, but now he will cancel the tour and return directly to India.

Indians stranded in Afghanistan

According to sources, the External Affairs Minister is contemplating on managing the efforts to evacuate Indian nationals from Afghanistan. Sources said that some Indians are still stuck in Kabul and there is a need for constant dialogue and adjustment with neighboring countries including the US to get them out safely. This is the main reason why the External Affairs Minister is returning to the country today.

PM Modi may meet Jaishankar

According to sources, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar may return and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. S Jaishankar will also hold a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs related to Afghanistan after his return.
