Facebook is working to bring the reactions to WhatsApp. A system that we already benefit from on other platforms and which allows us to “reply” to certain messages without having to write. At the same time, Zuckerberg’s company is working on a redesign of bubbles or phylacteries with a slightly more current look.

New reactions and a design facelift

We’ve known for a few weeks that Facebook is working on reactions for WhatsApp. Now from WABetaInfo they give us a first look at the system. A system which, for the moment, is not available in public beta since it is only in the early stages of its development.

The reaction system will allow you to use any emoji as a reaction, which is what we already see on Instagram, for example, and it will display the number of reactions accumulated. These reactions will not be anonymous, so in a group chat we can see who reacted and with which emoji. According to WABetaInfo, the number of reactions is not limited, although we will see “999+” if there are more than a thousand.

Meanwhile, on Facebook, they’ve also redesigned the new speech bubbles or speech bubbles. As can be seen in the screenshot above these lines, the new bubbles are slightly more rounded and have a more bluish color. The change is subtle, but it’s part of a facelift of a design that’s been around for many years.

The truth is, we don’t know when these two changes will happen. Lately we are seeing how Facebook is paying more attention to its main messaging app. An app which, for the most critical voices, lags far behind alternatives such as Telegram, for example.
