The new TV will be the OLED986 and it will be placed a step above the OLED936 although both will come with significant improvements in the panel over the equivalent models from last year and over the lower OLED ranges of the manufacturer for this 2021.

And it is that, both the OLED936 and the OLED986 will mount new generation OLED panels (in 48.55 and 65 inches for the 936 and only 65 inches for the 986) manufactured by LG and of the “Evo” type, which will offer a new electroluminescent layer and array of microlenses capable of achieving a brightness increase of up to 20% with better viewing angles, which are already excellent in OLED TVs.

Belonging to the Philips 9 series, the OLED986 TVs will have the P5 Gen5 image processor which, in addition to handling 4K panels, will reduce the risk of screen burns by up to 95% when working with it. static images. thanks to the monitoring of logos, signs and markers, controlling 32,400 different areas to work, reducing the brightness without affecting the rest of the image.

TVs will come with HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K120Hz, VRR and ALLM, 4ms input lag, AMD FreeSync Premium, Nvidia G-Sync, HLG, HDR10, HDR10 +, HDR10 + Adaptive, Dolby Vision, Calman Ready and a black frame insert operating at 120Hz.

They will have Android TV10 as their operating system, Chromecast compatibility, Filmmaker mode, AV1 video playback, 4-sided Ambilight system and an external soundbar on a special metal stand that will include a 3.0-channel system. with a separate external center tweeter and that it will be compatible with HDMI eARC, Dolby Atmos and DTS Play-Fi to add wireless surround speakers.

Pricing and availability

The new Philips OLED986 televisions will arrive in stores from October 2021 for a price yet to be determined, but which will probably be over 3,000 euros.
