1.1 million people suffer burn every year in the United States – this is fueling growth of the regenerative artificial skin market

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), 1.1 million people suffer burn injuries that require medical attention every year in the United States. Approximately 50,000 of these burn victims require hospitalization and 20,000 suffer major burns covering 25% of their body surface. Regenerative Artificial Skin has been designed specifically to regenerate the skin on burn patients or those who have had surgery. The skin on burn patients is very fragile and damage from radiation can cause it to wither and die. When doctors place these artificial skins over burn patients, they find that the skin looks and feels like normal skin. It also enables the patients to heal quicker. These skin patches are designed so that they can be surgically placed and removed at a later date.
